Social Enterprise, Outboard Motors

Releasing Potential Enterprises

At Emsworth Outboards, we service, repair, and sell outboard motors from our workshop in Emsworth Yacht Harbour. Formerly Home Marine, the outboard motor business retains the same team but is now owned by Releasing Potential Enterprises. Releasing Potential is an educational charity and Independent School based in Hampshire and West Sussex. Releasing Potential operates a range of social enterprise businesses like Emsworth Outboards, and prides itself on sustainable and ethical models for business and learning.

Many of the students who have access to work experience at Emsworth Outboards have had few opportunities in life. As a provider of education to young people with special educational needs, Releasing Potential School works closely alongside social enterprise partners like Emsworth Outboards, to develop opportunities for young people to gain vocational qualifications and experience. Releasing Potential believes that education needs to reach far beyond the traditional models offered by mainstream school and college environments, and the organisation works flexibly with students to give them access to opportunity and support. Our students gain experience of the working world, and get to watch our engineers work on outboard motors.

We believe in the importance of working with and within our wider community, and this approach emphasises the need for students to contribute positively to the world in which they live. The idea of the Releasing Potential family is a central one, and informs the way we work across our school and enterprise partnerships; we see the very best in young people and strive to allow them to see themselves in the same way.
